Subject What kind of anesthesia is used for nose surgery ? Would it be local anesthesia ?
We insert local anesthesia to the surgical site directly for general nose surgery, but we also apply IV sedation to reduce immediate pain of inserting local anesthesia.
Thus, you will be put to sleep via IV sedation just at the beginning of the surgery that you will likely be conscious while the surgery is performed without feeling any pain due to local anesthesia.
You must not eat anything including water for 8 hours before surgery.
If the surgery involves with nasal bone, general anesthesia is required that you must fast for at least 12 hours before surgery.
When general anesthesia is required for surgery, general health check up is performed for your safety.
Surgical procedures and anesthesia vary by patient’s nose condition that you must have a thorough consultation with a doctor before surgery.
